What is Universal Horror Unleashed?

Universal Horror Unleashed is a new year-round horror experience set to open in the summer of 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada within AREA15. When it opens it’s going to have 4 Haunted Houses with 4 “sinisterly themed and immersive areas featuring unique live entertainment experiences” surrounding those houses. “Guests can enjoy eerie eateries and bars featuring horror-centric food and drink offerings”. This experience is also going to be continuously updated throughout the year with seasonal events and merch.

Universal Monsters

This haunted house will most likely consist of Universal's Classic Monsters such as Count Dracula, Frankenstein’s Monster, The Wolf Man and more! It may even rotate characters and overall theming depending on when you visit the house. It could even utilize elements from previous Halloween Horror Nights houses! This one could truly be Legendary but this is just me speculating on what little information we do have. When we do get more concrete information I’ll update this page!

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Based on the logo and overall popularity of the original film, compared to the ones that would follow it, I believe that this house will most likely be based on the original film. Keep in mind though that over at Halloween Horror Nights in Hollywood this year they did have a house celebrating many elements from the franchise overall so some of that may carry over here as well, we’ll see!

Scarecrow: The Reaping

What I love about this house is that of all of the houses announced this was a Halloween Horror Nights original house! It was created for HHN at Universal Orlando Resort but then later setup as a haunted house for Universal Studios Hollywood! I do enjoy a good IP house but there is something special about original houses that fans of HHN like myself absolutely adore. Will it be exactly the same or modified quite a bit for this experience?

Blumhouse’s The Exorcist: Believer

I still have very clear memories of The Exorcist: Believer house from Halloween Horror Nights 32 when I streamed HHN every event night in Florida. The development of that house was very interesting in that the house would open before the film that it was based on was released. According to the creative team during BlumFest 2023, the development of that house relied on what little information the creative team could get from the filmmakers. For that alone they did a good job of creating a house that felt within The Exorcist universe but after seeing the film during that BlumFest it was clear that this house was not quite like the film. With the film being out for quite awhile now I hope that this house will get some much needed work to look and feel more like the actual film for the ultimate immersive experience.

Universal Destinations and Experiences (UDX) has also teased multiple Halloween Horror Nights Icons including Jack The Clown and his right-hand woman Chance via promotional videos and concept art (see above). With both this experience and Dark Universe opening next year within Universal Orlando Resort’s newest theme park, Epic Universe, it’s a great time to be a horror fan!
